Speeches:
Speech Sabine Sterk:
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Shalom…
Where should I begin?
Let me share with you a few headlines I’ve come across in recent weeks.
NRC: Hunger, fleeing families, and fear of a new Israeli offensive: the war in
Gaza in pictures.
Excuse me??? A new Israeli offensive? Who started the massacre on October 7th?
Who is still holding 59 hostages — alive and dead — captive? Israel or Hamas?
NRC: The situation in Gaza shows many signs of a genocide.
Excuse me? Doesn’t NRC know why Israel is attacking Gaza?
It’s a fight against terrorists, not against an ethnic group. The fact that
civilians are casualties is not Israel’s fault — it’s Hamas’s fault. Hamas
hides behind civilians, in schools, ambulances, mosques, and hospitals. They
prevent their own people from fleeing.
A genocide? Not by Israel.
Let’s take a look at another newspaper:
De Volkskrant: Israel bombs the last still-operational hospital in Gaza City.
Excuse me? Doesn’t De Volkskrant know that when you use hospitals, schools, and
mosques as weapons depots and shelters for terrorists, these become military
targets in times of war?
How suddenly pitiful the Palestinians become… The last operational hospital (of
the 36 in the small Gaza Strip)… how inconvenient that you can’t harbor
terrorists there anymore.
I could go on like this for hours.
Every news headline in newspapers and on social media drips with Palestinian
self-pity and points accusingly at Israel.
How dare Israel defend itself against people who want to slaughter them?
They’re ‘just’ Jews being murdered, right?
Moreover — Palestinians display their dead, especially children, with photos on
the front pages of global news. Staged or not. It’s their business model.
Only when you live among the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians, do you
realize that within radical Islam, death is the ultimate goal — especially as a
martyr. In other words: if you’ve killed a few Israelis and/or Jews, then it’s
‘good’ to die.
That is the real mindset. But for our Western morality, that is unbearable, too
reprehensible to believe.
Yet it is true.
Dead children are used to win the world’s sympathy and thereby rake in millions
of dollars in aid.
But what does this do in the Netherlands?
Due to the systematic disinformation that is broadcast, people are influenced.
Especially young people, students who are still in a learning process and nine
out of ten times have never even been to the Middle East, take this information
at face value.
This results in horrific “pro-Palestine” — that is, pro-mass-murder-of-Jews —
actions at universities.
This Israel-hatred, based on lies, is spreading like a virus among students and
even among staff of universities and other educational institutions. A
disturbing matter.
Israel is a leading country in medical science, technology, and innovations in
various fields.
Cooperation with such a country, with such great capabilities, could raise
Dutch education — yes, even university education — to a higher level. And let’s
be honest, that’s sorely needed, isn’t it?
Because how stupid is it to believe the lies of terrorists. They are not called
terrorists for nothing — those guys from Hamas, part of an international
terrorist organization.
If you believe terrorists, then it’s absolutely necessary to elevate education,
and you should fight with everything you’ve got against an academic boycott of
the universities of a country that brings so much good to the world.
Let’s also talk about humanitarian organizations.
Oxfam Novib, Amnesty International, and another ‘nice’ club: UNRWA.
What do we actually expect from humanitarian organizations?
We expect them to be objective. Not to get politically involved in domestic
conflicts. To always be neutral, and to stand up solely for innocent victims of
violence.
We are not talking about supporting criminals, the ones causing the suffering,
but about the innocent victims.
Well, unfortunately… that’s not what these organizations do.
They point an accusing finger at Israel without delving into the facts.
They fancy themselves political leaders, think they can meddle in political
issues, and are extremely selective in their outrage.
Due to this attitude — the deliberate closing of eyes to both sides of the
conflict — they remain silent when Jewish victims fall, but cry murder when
Israel defends itself.
We stand
here on the Dam, Amsterdam… For me, since we held our weekly protests against
the Hamas supporter group — which, by the way, is still polluting this square —
it has become clear in which groups the Israel-hatred and ignorance are
greatest.
The group with the greatest ignorance is, surprisingly enough, the students.
You expect intelligence from students, but unfortunately that’s not a given.
I vividly remember a discussion with a boy of about 21 years old, who asked why
Jews always had their finger in every pie, why they dominated the world, and
why they occupied so much land… I looked at him in surprise and asked, do you
know how big Israel is? “No,” he said. I asked him, “Take a guess” … He said it
must be at least as big as the United States, maybe even bigger… I told him
Israel is twice the size of the province of Utrecht… And you still think Israel
should give up more land?
He laughed in my face, said I was stupid… and had no clue…
The worst part is that students… STUDENTS… deny facts and believe lies.
This demonstration is to make the public aware of how terribly ignorant people
are.
Ignorance is not bad. But ask questions, ask reliable sources, make sure you
are not dependent on media or people supported by terrorist organizations.
Make sure you consult independent sources and make sure you learn… that is
studying… not blindly accepting the opinion of a large group.
We are here on the Dam, the reason I am standing here today is the growing
sense of unease I feel.
Since October 7, I have watched with horror and dismay as the sympathy for
Israel — strong during the first two days after October 7 — shifted to a witch
hunt against Israel, siding with Hamas and the “uninvolved” (are there even
any?) “Palestinians.”
Where there is chopping, chips will fly. Yes, Israel may have made mistakes in
this now 1.5-year-long gruesome war…
But those mistakes are minimal and the IDF still maintains high moral standards
— roof-knocking, pamphlets, etc. — but of course, you don’t hear the media
about that…
Yet as soon as one mistake comes to light… Israel is under a magnifying glass,
a very strong microscope… and everything, absolutely everything is used to
smear Israel, to wag the accusing finger…
The general public forgets that by doing so, they support Hamas and terrorism…
Do you want to live in such a world? I certainly don’t.
I worry about my children and grandchildren… about a world turning into a black
hole of evil…
That’s why I stand here on the Dam… To say… Look beyond your nose… keep
standing with Israel… Believe in Israel, support Israel…
We stand here on the Dam, with a group of like-minded people…, yet I hope that
something from this demonstration reaches even a single person who is willing
to look further than their nose.
And if we change the mindset of even one person, then this demonstration was
not in vain…
Because if you throw one stone into a river, the current will change forever…
And then a
short word about our government.
The Israeli ambassador was summoned a few weeks ago by the Minister of Foreign
Affairs, I believe, because of the IDF attack on a convoy with 15 aid workers…
Mind you, among those aid workers were at least 6 Hamas members, who are
military targets.
Like any Western country that must adhere to laws and regulations, Israel is
conducting an investigation, and if serious mistakes were made, those
responsible will have to be held accountable.
And then we have the Netherlands… The teacher’s pet, who thinks it’s necessary
to wag the reproachful finger… SHAME ON YOU, Israel…
People, what a disgrace this is… Israel is a friendly nation, a respected ally…
How dare the Netherlands interfere in Israel’s internal affairs???
Have the ambassadors of Yemen, Iran, Iraq, the Palestinian Authority been
summoned after the mass slaughter of October 7, or before that, during the
years of thousands of rockets raining down on Israel… No, of course not,
because it’s not news if it doesn’t involve Jews…
NETHERLANDS, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF…
We are here for Israel, to show the country we love that there are still people
who stand with Israel…
Israel, we support you and you are not alone…
NEVER
