📜 Forgotten History: The 1830s Colonization of Jaffa, Nablus & Beisan

Long before modern Israel, parts of today’s coastal plain and Jezreel Valley were colonized under Egyptian rule.

Around 1831–1840, Egypt’s ruler Muhammad Ali Pasha and his son Ibrahim Pasha conquered the Land of Israel from the Ottomans. To secure control, they resettled Egyptian soldiers, peasants, and families in key cities like Jaffa, Nablus, and Beisan (Beit She’an).

This wasn’t “indigenous continuity”,  it was state-directed population transfer, forced conscription, heavy taxation, and suppression of local revolts. Entire villages were reshaped during this short but intense period of Egyptian imperial rule.

History is complex  but pretending population movements only began in the 20th century is simply false.
